Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz spaghetti
- 1 lb ground turkey or beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the Meat: In a large pot, brown the ground turkey or beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat to keep the dish lean and healthy.
- Sauté Vegetables: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, releasing its sweet aroma.
- Simmer the Sauce: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, beef or vegetable broth, dried basil, and oregano. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Cook the Pasta: Add the spaghetti to the pot, ensuring it’s completely submerged in the sauce. Cover the pot and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the spaghetti is tender and has absorbed the rich flavors of the sauce.
- Season and Serve: Season the dish with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, topped with grated parmesan cheese if desired, for an extra layer of flavor.
