Slow Cooker Chili recipe

  • Author: Caroline

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 lb ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup bell peppers, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup vegetable broth

Instructions

  1. Brown the Meat: In a pan, brown the ground turkey (or chicken) over medium heat for 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat to keep the chili lean and healthy.
  2. Transfer to Slow Cooker: Move the browned meat to the slow cooker, setting the foundation for your chili.
  3. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, bell peppers, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper, and vegetable broth to the slow cooker.
  4. Stir: Stir everything together until well combined, ensuring that the spices and ingredients are evenly distributed.
  5. Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. The slow, gentle cooking process will meld the flavors together beautifully.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, serve the chili warm. Enjoy its rich flavors and the satisfaction of a home-cooked meal.
